Triple-Up Thursday: Flamingo Lingo (and Ronald McDonald House Charities)

It's Triple-Up Thursday again!  (Already?! This week has FLOWN by.)  If this is your first time here:  Triple-Up Thursday is a weekly feature where I share three 3x3" cards created with a single stamp set and five ink colours - crafting doesn't have to be difficult or involve a lot of supplies!

This week's feature set is Flamingo Lingo; before I get to the cards, I want to blab for a minute about Flamingo Lingo.  Each year, Stampin' Up chooses a stamp set as their "Make A Difference" set.  Stampin' Up is partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities, an organization that is close to my heart, and for each copy of Flamingo Lingo sold, $3 is donated to this amazing cause.

My husband and I have long supported Ronald McDonald House Charities - so much so, actually, that they're the designated recipients of our entire estate if we are all wiped out in an accident.  They are an amazing organization that provides a huge, meaningful services to parents with sick kids - a place to be comfortable and call home where they can focus on their family.  And best of all, the overhead costs are paid for by McDonald's Restaurants, so all charitable donations go directly to the cause.  How awesome is that?

Two years ago, though, RMHC became very special to us when it became home for my cousin and her husband.  Their son, Aleks, was born with a twisted bowel, and shortly after birth, he had to be rushed to a hospital in a different city, where he ended up staying in the NICU for 4.5 months.  Ronald McDonald House in London, Ontario became "home" for Ashley and Ben so they could be with Aleks.  It allowed them to be minutes away from him, instead of in another city entirely.  It gave them the ability to focus on his care without worrying about anything else, and it's all without cost so there is no additional financial burden incurred during already-tough times.

Aleks was the poster-boy for Ronald McDonald House of Southwestern Ontario that year; isn't he a cutie?

Two years after he was released from hospital, Aleks is a healthy, happy, rowdy toddler and Ronald McDonald House is that much more special to our entire family.

Anyway - this brings me back to Flamingo Lingo.  If you haven't already, grab this set and know that you've made a difference.  And when it arrives, you can whip up these three easy cards!

This colour pallet is a bit unconventional, but I love how it came together.  Lost Lagoon, Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Rose Red.  We've got a mix of In-Colours, Brights, Subtles, and Regals - a bit of everything!

I kept the embellishments super simple - aside from the ink and cardstock, the only thing I added was Old Olive Baker's Twine!  I will link punches and framelits for your convenience, but all of these shapes can easily be hand-cut with a pair of scissors, too.

I love the brightness of the first card, the colour in the second, and the simplicity of the third.  Which is your favourite?

Thanks for popping by today - have a fabulous day!

  1. Cute cards and great charity! When I was in the military I organized a few collection drop offs for supplies for the RMHC. They're a blessing to many!

    1. They really are - just a fabulous organization. And I SO appreciate donating to a charity knowing it isn't going toward someone's six-figure salary - just to the people who need it the most! Thanks for taking the time to comment, Holly!
